About me

Hello! Welcome to my site. My name is Rich Fay, and as you can see from the obnoxiously large font above, I am a sports journalist with a keen interest in all things multimedia.

I recently graduated from the University of Salford with First Class honors in Broadcast Journalism, and am now continuing on my path towards a career in football reporting.

My main passion is in football and in particularly commentating - I have to thank my brothers and also Pro Evolution Soccer for this obsession.

Back when I was ten, I was only allowed to play on the game console if I did chores for my brothers; my reward was to play Pro Evo. Thankfully one of the game’s flaws is that the commentary was atrocious, and instead I would play matches and commentate over them myself. Ridiculous or not, it gave me valuable experiencing of commentating over various scenarios and has helped me fulfil my childhood dreams... even if I did never beat my brothers.

I am very privileged to have already achieved lots in the industry, from eating lasagne with Robbie Savage at Wembley, to interviewing Noel Edmonds last year. Oh, I even won a BAFTA award* too.

In a more serious manner, I was also delighted to recieve the 'Breaking News Award' at the University of Salford Journalism Awards 2016, and had my work showcased to a range of industry experts based at MediaCityUK.

Away from sport my passion is exploring the beautiful Welsh countryside whilst documenting my adventrues with my budding interest in photogrpahy. I also enjoy baking cakes in my free time (open to baked-good bribes), although they don’t always end up looking like the images displayed in my Hairy Bikers' cookbook.

I hope you enjoy reading everything I have put together, and if you want to ask any questions, or perhaps get tips on how to create the perfect meringues, then please let me know on the contact page.

All the best, Rich.

*I was an extra in BBC drama Marvellous, and on screen for about two seconds. My mum has photo evidence, trust me.
